Attorney: FAMU student hazed could barely walkAttorney: Florida A&M band student beaten so severely during hazing she could barely walk
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) ' An attorney for a Florida A&M band student says her client was beaten so badly in a hazing ritual that she could barely walk.
Attorney B.J. Bernstein said Tuesday that freshman Bria Shante Hunter was punched in the leg and hit with spatula, notebook binders and rulers. Bernstein says Hunter believed she had no choice but to be a part of the hazing within the famed Marching 100 band.
Three band members, all men, have been charged with hazing in Hunter's beating. Two of the men also face battery charges.
At least two of the accused say they plan to fight the charges.
The details about Hunter's alleged beating marked the first time authorities and lawyers have specifically described hazing at Florida A&M.
