Attorney for father of fire victims slams cityAttorney for father of girls killed in fire slams Stamford officials for tearing down house
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) ' An attorney for the father of three girls killed in a Christmas morning fire slammed Stamford officials for demolishing the house a day after the fire, saying it hampered an investigation.
Richard Emery, attorney for Matthew Badger, said he will pursue a lawsuit against Stamford and others to get to the bottom of what happened.
He spoke after prosecutor David Cohen said Friday he would not file criminal charges.
Cohen said "regrettably" the house was demolished and in the future the police department and prosecutor should be consulted before any demolition is carried out.
Messages were left for city officials, who have said the house was torn down because it was unsafe.
The fire killed 7-year-old twins Grace and Sarah Badger, 9-year-old Lily Badger and grandparents Lomer and Pauline Johnson.
