Attitude Studio's Eve Solal Plans Her U.S. Debut at SIGGRAPH

European Virtual Superstar Eve Solal Featured in the Electronic Theatre and on the Show Floor at Siggraph 2001 (July 16, 2001)
Attitude Studio, the world's first virtual character development studio, announced the upcoming U.S. debut of Eve Solal at Siggraph 2001, and her acceptance into the prestigious Siggraph Electronic Theatre.

Eve Solal is the brainchild of the minds at Attitude Studio, who aimed to build the first ever photo-real virtual personality. She differentiates herself from other attempts at virtual characters by adopting the human-like nuances of emotional response, personality and life-like looks and movement. Attitude Studio and Eve Solal will be at Siggraph 2001, August 14-16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, in the Vicon booth, #1437.

Attitude Studio is a service company, specializing exclusively in the conception and creation of virtual characters. The company services clients in film, television, corporate communications, gaming and the Internet. The artists at Attitude Studio developed Eve Solal as a way to illustrate their world-leading talents in giving life to virtual characters.

Photo-realism in virtual imagery is still one of the most complex production hurdles faced by even the most talented digital artists. Attitude Studio has mastered this skill, as evidenced by the remarkable human qualities of Eve Solal. Eve Solal was brought to life with a lot of imagination and a combination of professional animation tools including Vicon 8 motion capture and Alias|Wavefrontıs Maya. Attitude's proprietary Emotion Mapper was used to simulate both body and facial muscle deformations to translate human emotional response onto the final model of Eve.

To amplify and play on the paradox of creating a "real virtual personality", her creators rented an apartment for her in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, created a personal page for her on the web at and bought her a cel phone. Eve's life story includes a past, a happy childhood in Boulogne Billancourt (the Western Paris suburbs) and a present she's looking for work.

See Eve in her U.S. debut in the Electronic Theatre presentation at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles during Siggraph. Visit the Vicon booth, during the show to meet the founders of Attitude Studio and to see the latest incarnation of Eve, to be unveiled on the show floor in booth #1437 on August 14th at 12:00 noon.
