AtomShockwave Becomes Atom EntertainmentThe change was spurred by recent acquisitions (January 13, 2006)
AtomShockwave Corp., a pioneer in online entertainment, today announced it has officially changed its corporate name to Atom Entertainment, Inc. The change was spurred by recent acquisitions, a newly created video directory and an advertising network that greatly expand the company's brand line-up and advertising opportunities. Atom Entertainment now operates as the corporate umbrella for game sites Shockwave.com(TM) and AddictingGames(TM) and video sites AtomFilms(R) and AddictingClips(TM).
"With four major websites already under our corporate umbrella and more growth planned, AtomShockwave needed a name that mirrors our growth and future in online entertainment," said Mika Salmi, CEO of Atom Entertainment. "Short-form, on-demand entertainment is something we started in 1998 with AtomFilms, and our new corporate name reflects both our history and our continued commitment to 'atomized' content that is ideally suited to the Web and connected devices."
The flurry of activity in the latter half of 2005 catapulted Atom Entertainment to the position of being the largest independent online entertainment company on the Web today. These developments reflect Atom Entertainment's vision of offering a wide variety of entertainment options tailored to specific consumer demographics and advertiser needs.
In November, the company announced the acquisition of AddictingGames, the heavily trafficked online games portal. This acquisition coupled with AtomFilms and Shockwave.com growth, soared the company's audience to more than 30 million unique users per month
Shortly after the acquisition, Shockwave.com unveiled the Shockwave Immersive Network, the largest in-game advertising network for online games. Many leading consumer brands have already begun advertising on the Shockwave.com Immersive Network such as Intel Corporation, LG Electronics and Microsoft Game Studios(R) Zoo Tycoon(R) 2: Endangered Species because of its unique approach to online advertising and broad audience of more than 22 million unique users.
Most recently, Atom Entertainment launched AddictingClips, an online video directory that filters, searches and sorts the most entertaining video on the Web as another forum for advertisers. The AddictingClips directory contains more than 1,000 videos and is paired with a video search engine, making the site a powerful resource for consumers to unearth the funniest video clips online.
Atom Entertainment has further expansion plans for 2006 and will continue to be at the forefront of consumer entertainment and online advertising innovation in the coming months.
