At The 111th AES, Martinsound's New Products Help Studios Maximize

(August 06, 2001)
Martinsound, Inc. will be introducing its MonitorMAX Stereo Monitor Controller and PanMAX Automated Surround Panner, the latest additions to its growing line of multichannel audio solutions, at the 111th AES Convention (September 21-24, 2001 at the Jacob K. Javits Center, New York City; Booth #1251).

The MonitorMAX Stereo Monitor Controller, the most recent addition to Martinsound's expanding line of MAX multichannel monitoring solutions, adds multiple stereo source monitor selection and talkback capabilities to multi-room production environments, either as a standalone unit or in conjunction with the MultiMAX EX Multiformat Monitor Controller. Ten stereo sources, eight at +4dB and two at -10dB, may be selected to separate Cue and Monitor outputs. Sensitivity of the two -10dB inputs can be adjusted, via the setup menu, from 6dB of loss to 12dB of gain in 1dB increments. A third stereo output may feed MultiMAX or a pair of external meters. MonitorMAX incorporates a talkback microphone preamplifier.

The PanMAX Automated Surround Panner allows users to make sophisticated and repeatable dynamic sound motion and parameter changes in any type of audio production. Offering 8 outputs as standard and expandable up to 16 input channels from the two-channel base system, PanMAX is configurable with a single or multiple remote controllers. Each remote provides automated control of divergence, stereo width and surround panning through three faders and a joystick. SMPTE-lock permits frame-accurate replay of the recorded movements.

On display at the AES Convention, Martinsound's MAX product range -- which also includes the MultiMAX EX Multiformat Monitor Controller, ForMAX Surround Monitoring Formatter, RecordistMAX Machine Room Monitor System and VuMAX metering package -- extend the equipment's productive life, thereby maximizing the facility's investment, and allow studio owners to attract more diverse business. MAX monitor products may be added singly or in any combination to existing stereo consoles and DAWs to extend their capabilities through the addition of multichannel and multiformat functionality.

Also on show at the 111th AES Convention will be the Martech MSS-10 'Natural Sound' microphone preamplifier, offering performance and quality that exceeds even the best tube or discrete units and introduces a new category of mic preamp that is in a class by itself. When added to any console or DAW the hyper-accurate MSS-10 faithfully captures every nuance of the natural sound in the recording studio, from the most delicate string instruments to the nastiest rock 'n' roll.

Martinsound's legendary Flying Faders mixing console automation system and Martinsound's ACX Flying Faders-automated console expander will also be on display at the AES show. Flying Faders, the original 'Just Mix' system, is the only genuine Flying Faders moving fader system, and boasts the largest installed customer base of any motorized fader automation system among medium and large format analog console users worldwide. Flying Faders and the ACX add life to any analog console and allow owners to handle larger projects and bring new clients to their studios.
