Army Ranger killed on 14th deployment to war zone

Special Operations Army Ranger with most deployments killed in Afghanistan on 14th tour By The Associated Press

SAN DIEGO (AP) ' The Army says a special operator killed in Afghanistan was on his 14th tour, making him the Ranger with the most deployments to date killed in action.

Spokeswoman Tracy Bailey with the 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning, Ga., says Sgt. 1st Class Kristoffer B. Domeij (DOH'-meej) was killed last week.

Bailey says the 29-year-old California native was killed with two other soldiers in a bomb explosion in the Taliban heartland of Kandahar.

She says he served four tours in Iraq and the rest in Afghanistan. Bailey says the fact that he volunteered for so many deployments speaks volumes about his dedication to his country.

Hundreds of Rangers are on double-digit deployments in the long war on terror.

Domeij is survived by his wife, two daughters, a mother and brother.
