Appsylum, an iOS Online Community for Developers and Enthusiasts, Prepares for Launch

  (August 16, 2011)

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 16, 2011

Appsylum.com, a New York-based startup, is launching its iPhone and iPad community, allowing users to discuss their pains and pleasures for over 390,000 iOS applications for the iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone and giving developers a chance to respond. Appsylum intends on helping consumers find the best iPad applications and iPod and iPhone apps.

Founder Tamar Weinberg has been involved in the social media space since the early 90s. She has downloaded over 1500 applications for iPod touch and iPad. Seeing that there was no central location to report bugs and suggest new features, Weinberg saw the need for customers to communicate with developers and also with each other. "While Appsylum is intended to serve the needs of both developers and Apple device users, one of our primary goals for the service is to create a hub for developers to congregate and support their apps to a larger community. It also intends to be a community for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad owners to support each other, help each other, and learn from each other," said Weinberg.

With Appsylum, users can sign up and add applications that they own or want to lists. They can also can message each other to communicate with developers and with other app users. Users can also add toolboxes of their favorite apps, such as "apps for toddlers" or "games I play while I'm on a really annoying conference call." They can also be notified when the best iPhone applications or iPad apps become free or have price reductions and a subscription for recent price drops available is via RSS. Finally, users can also purchase iPhone and iPad accessories for their devices.

Developers can join the site to engage with customers who have feedback or support concerns regarding their applications completely free of charge. They can also instantly announce updates to applications, which will then be sent directly to app owners' inboxes. Any support issues contributed to by developers are given special prominence on the the Appsylum discussion forums.

Both users and developers can contribute reviews to apps, add videos, thumb up and down the apps they like and dislike, and much more.

"Appsylum has been a passion project and vision of mine for over a year. I'm excited to turn it into a reality," Weinberg said.
