Apps made with Corona SDK Reaching #1 in Multiple App Store Categories

  (March 11, 2011)

Palo Alto, California (Vocus/PRWEB) March 11, 2011

Users of Ansca Mobiles Corona SDK mobile app development tool have seen their iPhone apps become very well-received in the Apples App Store throughout the past week.

Earlier this week, the free version of the 'Float' iPhone game by Chicago-based Crawl Space Games ( topped 500,000 downloads after entering the App Store just eight days ago. According to Crawl Space co-founder Adam Buchweitz, the interest piqued by the free version of 'Float' has, in turn, spiked in-game purchases from it, as well as downloads on the $0.99 full paid version of the game. All of this from a game that took one day to prototype.

Thanks to Corona, we were able to develop 'Float' faster than anything we've done previously. And with 500,000 players and counting, Float has become our highest-grossing app! said Buchweitz.

'Float' currently is the #1 Kids Game in 38 countries, and a top-5 free app overall in 20 countries.

Additionally, the childrens block-stacking app 'Blöki' by Lawrenceville, Georgia studio Driftlab ( hit #1 yesterday on the Top Free Education iPad Apps list. Driftlab made the app free on Tuesday (March 8) as part of a weeklong promotion, and racked up thousands of downloads each day before ultimately reaching the top spot early Thursday.

Driftlab co-founder Ash Warren says 'Blöki' was created in a matter of days because of Corona SDK. He said Coronas straight-ahead programming allows his team to have the quick turn-around time that is necessary to compete in the fast-moving mobile app space.

I've always loved watching my kids play with wooden blocks, and that seemed like a perfect fit for an iOS app in Corona the inclusion of Box2D sealed the deal, said Warren. Our prototype was ready to go in a couple evenings worth of work, then we spruced it up a bit and submitted to the App Store. Not only has Corona proven itself invaluable in our development, but also throughout the submission process to this day, we have never had an app or update rejected or even delayed in the approval process.

Corona SDK is free to use for an unlimited trial, with subscription options available on Mac (iOS and Android development) or Windows (only Android development) when users are ready to publish their app in the App Store or Android Market.

Ansca, Inc. ( is a venture-backed Palo Alto, CA-based mobile development company founded by two former Adobe mobile engineers who previously led the Adobe Flash Lite engineering team. Their Corona SDK software development kit empowers developers of all backgrounds to create graphically rich games and applications for Apples iOS and Googles Android mobile platforms.
