Apple Updates Mac OS X

Version 10.3.1 gets printing and FireWire 800 enhancements By Dave Nagel
Apple has released an update to Mac OS X "Panther." The new 10.3.1 release includes enhancements to a number of areas, though it does not yet address the issue with external FireWire 400 drives. The new version is available now for the standard and server versions of Mac OS X.

The new 10.3.1 update, according to Apple, offers enhancements and improved reliability for printing, FileVault, WebDav and FireWire 800 drives. It also incorporates the latest security updates. The new version does not, however, address the FireWire 400 external drive issue, which can result in data loss of devices using the Oxford 922 chipset with the version 1.02 firmware. Apple recommends updating the device's firmware to avoid this problem.

The Mac OS X 10.3.1 update is available now for users of Mac OS X 10.3 or Mac OS X 10.3 Server. For more information, visit http://www.apple.com.
