Apple Updates Keynote

Version 1.1 adds performance improvement, fixes compatibility issues with PowerPoint By Dave Nagel
Apple today released an update to Keynote, and application designed specifically for creating presentations. The new 1.1 version adds performance improvements and also includes a number of fixes for import and export of various file formats, including PowerPoint and PDF. It's available now as a free update for Mac OS X.

Keynote is designed for presentation professionals and includes slideshow management functionality; anti-aliased text; alignment guides; full alpha-channel graphics support (with image transformations and effects, such as opacity control). It also supports major graphics formats, including Photoshop files with layers. It can build tables and charts and includes a stock image library and video-style transitions. It also offers customizable themes and can import and export PowerPoint files and export PDF and QuickTime.

The new update provides improved compatibility with PowerPoint import and export. It also offers better performance with QuickTime, and it offers all-around smaller file sizes, including PDF export. Keynote's themes have also been reduced in size, and the new version offers an option of downsampling images when importing them to reduce file sizes further. Other new features include the ability to jump to a specific slide during a presentation; the ability to show series labels on vertical bar charts; and the ability to use 3D transitions without clipping.

Keynote is available for Mac OS X for $99. The 1.1 update is free for current users. For more information, visit http://www.apple.com.
