Apple Settles with Sorenson

Companies drop claims By Dave Nagel
Apple and Sorenson Media say they have settled a pending federal court lawsuit that had been brought by Apple in April, 2002. According to the settlement, all claims and counterclaims have been dismissed.

Apple had filed suit against Sorenson back in April over Sorenson's licensing of Spark technology to Macromedia, claiming a breach of a distribution agreement in which Sorenson was supposed to have certain provided compression technologies exclusively for the QuickTime platform. Sorenson followed up in July with a countersuit, claiming that Apple's original suit "chilled sales that Sorenson expected to achieve through co-marketing efforts with Macromedia."

Neither company offered further comment on the settlement.
