Apple Reports 25 million QuickTime 6 Downloads200,000 streaming servers also downloaded
The company did not break down the users by region or provide further demographics on those who downloaded the software. The company says that, in addition to the 25 million QuickTime 6 downloads, about 200,000 copies of the free QuickTime Streaming Server and Darwin Streaming Server have been downloaded. The streaming servers are available free from Apple and provide the capability to broadcast MPEG-4 streams.
QuickTime 6 was released in July. Over the last year, more than 126 million users downloaded the free QuickTime Player application, in addition to the "tens of millions" of copies that were distributed along with digital cameras, software and enhanced music CDs.
