Apple Releases iDVD 2

Update ships on DVD with 1 GB of custom themes By Dave Nagel
Apple today released iDVD 2, an update to its DVD authoring system. iDVD 2 is available only for Mac OS X 10.1 and ships on a DVD of its own that includes more than a gigabyte of design themes. The program is available as an update for iDVD users and is also included on Apple systems that ship with the SuperDrive (currently the dual 800 MHz G4 model and the 867 MHz model).

It's not clear yet exactly what's new in iDVD 2, other than support for Mac OS X. As with the previous release, iDVD supports motion menus and allows users to customize themes through a drag and drop interface. (Movies and images can be dragged onto the program to create previews, backgrounds, etc.)

Under OS X 10.1, iDVD allows users to multitask, even while a DVD is being burned. It supports up to 90 minutes of material.

iDVD 2 requires Mac OS X 10.1, a Power Mac G4 and 256 MB of RAM. It's available in English, German, French and japanese versions for a $19.95 shipping and handling. For more information, visit
