Apple Releases Safari 1.0

Web browser gets improved HTML 'rendering' By Dave Nagel
Apple today announced Safari 1.0, the first full-version release of the company's native Web browser for Mac OS X. Apple says that since the debut of the public beta version, there have been 5 million downloads. The new version is available today for free download from Apple's Web site.

Safari offers tabbed browsing, autofill forms and the ability to import bookmarks from Netscape and Internet Explorer. The new version also offers faster HTML "rendering," and Apple says it also gains increased standards support, link synchronization with iSync and additional AppleScripts.

Safari 1.0 is available as a free download for Mac OS X from Apple's Web site. Apple has also released the Safari SDK. For more information, visit http://www.apple.com.
