Apple Offers Upgrade for Premiere UsersFinal Cut Express discount also offered to new Mac purchasers
According to Apple, those who trade in their Premiere discs will receive either a free copy of Final Cut Express or $500 off Final Cut Pro 4. Final Cut Express is designed for video enthusiasts, with many of the features found in the previous version of FInal Cut Pro, including real-time transitions, titles and effects; color correction; compositing features; and integration with Apple's DVD authoring tools. Final Cut Pro 4 is the higher-end video editing package, offering more than 300 new features in its latest incarnation, including RT Extreme for real-time compositing and effects; interface customization tools; new 8- and 10-bit uncompressed formats; full 32-bit floating point per channel video processing; advanced trimming and timeline tools; enhanced audio editing capabilities with multi-track audio mixing and multi-channel audio output; and four complementary applications for film work (Cinema Tools), titling (LiveType), batch encoding (Compressor) and music production (Soundtrack).
In addition, Apple has announced that anybody purchasing a new Mac will be able to purchase Final Cut Express at the same time for $99 ($200 off the regular price).
