Apple Launches New iMacs, iPodsG4 iMacs get speed boost to 1.25 GHz
The new iMacs come in two configurations, one with a 15-inch LCD display and one with a 17-inch widescreen LCD display. The 15-inch model offers a 1 GHz G4 processor, 256 MB of 333 MHz DDR SDRAM, Nvidia GeForce4 MX graphics card with 32 MB memory, a 32x combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW optical drive, two FireWire 400 ports, three USB 2.0 ports, internal support for Bluetooth and AirPort Extreme wireless networking, an 80 GB Ultra ATA/100 hard drive and Apple Pro Speakers. It sells for $1,299.
The 17-inch iMac includes a 1.25 GHz G4 processor, 256 MB of 333 MHz DDR SDRAM, 4x SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW), Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 graphics card with 64 MB memory, two FireWire 400 ports, three USB 2.0 ports, internal support for AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth wireless networking, 80 GB Ultra ATA/100 hard drive and Apple Pro Speakers. It sells for $1,799.
On the iPod front, Apple has launched two new models, a 20 GB unit and a 40 GB unit. They sell for $399 and $499, respectively, and are available now with support for Macintosh and WIndows systems.
Finally, Apple also announced today that it has sold its 10 millionth song through the iTunes Music Store. The iTunes Music Store is Apple's retail site for selling individual songs and albums. The company says that since its launch four months ago, the store has averaged about 500,000 songs per week. The store is integrated into Apple's iTunes software jukebox application, where users can purchase individual titles for $0.99 per song.
