Apple Beefs Up PortablesPowerBook Titanium hits 667 MHz
On the PowerBook front, there are now two models. The 667 MHz PowerBook, which sells for $2,999, includes a 133 MHz system bus, 256 MB RAM, a 30 GB Ultra ATA/66 drive; and a pre-installed AirPort card with integrated antennae. The other model is a 550 MHz portable that comes with a 100 MHz system bus, 128 MB RAM, a 20 GB hard drive and integrated AirPort antennae, but not a pre-installed card. It sells for $2,199. Both models have a 256K on chip level-2 cache; slot-loading DVD-ROM orr CD-RW; ATI Mobility Radeon graphics with AGP 4x and 16 MB DDR video memory; gigabit Ethernet; a new power adapter and USB, FireWire, VGA and S-video ports.
Both models come with OS X 10.1 and 9.2.1 installed. For a limited time, both models will come with double the normal RAM. More information about this can be found at http://www.apple.com/promo.
The new iBooks are now available in three base configurations. The top of the line unit has a 600 MHz G3, a 20 GB drive and a combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive. It sells for $1,699. The other two models, at 500 MHz and 600 MHz, sell for $1,299 and $1,499, respectively.
