Apogee's AD & DA-16X Now Shipping

System for digital audio conversion with 192k sampling rates. (May 21, 2004)

Apogee Electronics Corporation announced today that its much anticipated AD-16X and DA-16X converters are now available worldwide through authorized dealers and distributors. The AD & DA-16X are designed to be the ultimate system for digital audio conversion and offer 192k sampling rates, the C777 clocking technology from Apogees Big Ben, a redesigned power supply and analog section, and direct connectivity to Pro Tools HD with the X-HD card. FireWire enabled computers can be connect directly to Apogees optional X-FireWire card.

Amongst the many premium features included with AD-16X & DA-16X, one of the most compelling is Apogees C777 clocking. The revolutionary C777 clocking technology, established in the Big Ben, uses an all-digital process to generate stable clock signals that result in undetectable jitter and an enhancement to the sound quality that can be easily heard.

Also new to the X-Series units is Apogee's redesigned power-supply scheme. The new power system of the AD-16X & DA-16X incorporates a specially design Synchronous Switching power supply that works in conjunction with the C777 clock and Apogee's award winning filtering technology to provide superior transient response, low heat and noise performance beyond that of traditional linear power supplies.

Apogee spared no expense with the redesign of the X-Series analog section and optimized it by selecting premium, contemporary op-amps. With this high performance analog section the AD & DA-16X are able to deliver unprecedented conversion performance, while maintaining the signature Apogee sound: Clear, transparent, focused and punchy. And last but certainly not least, the AD & DA-X vastly increase connectivity options greatly by offering expansion card slots for the X-HD card which facilitates a direction connection to Pro Tools HD and the X-FireWire card which makes a professional FireWire based audio work station a reality.

"The AD and DA-16X are the most amazing converters we have ever made. Our engineers have pulled out all the stops to design a conversion system that will take the quality of digital audio recording into new territory, offer incredible value and establish new standards industry wide." says Betty Bennett Co-Founder and CEO of Apogee.
