Altus Wins an Unprecedented Three Gold Awards for Excellence in Learning Technology

Brandon Hall Research Honors Altus for Innovative Technology, Best Use of Video, and Best Use of Web 2.0 Tools (December 02, 2009)

CAMPBELL, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/02/09 -- Altus Learning Systems, a leader in enterprise video search and management solutions for sales enablement and knowledge sharing, today announced that it has been honored with three Gold Awards for excellence in learning technology by Brandon Hall Research. The annual Excellence in Learning Awards competition involved 360 entries, and the three Gold Awards won by Altus exceeded the number won by any other organization.

Altus took top honors in the following categories:

-- "Best Innovation in Learning Technology," for the role of the Altus vSearch(TM) software solution in helping Cisco Systems bridge the gap between content and context in Cisco's global learning curricula. -- "Best Use of Video for Learning," for enabling Cisco Systems to deliver knowledge to 67,000 employees worldwide through video-on-demand. -- "Best Use of Web 2.0 Tools for Learning," for enabling Cisco Systems to install a Web 2.0-based sales intelligence system.

"We are very pleased to have Brandon Hall Research recognize the value our innovative technology brings to Cisco's knowledge sharing programs," said Altus CEO Ted Cocheu. "Great technology is an important component of creating a world-class sales enablement program, but it is Cisco's vision and ability to integrate it effectively within their virtual team program that has made the partnership so successful," added Mr. Cocheu.

In a recent IDC survey of purchasers, 57% of respondents indicated that the sales people calling on them were either somewhat or not prepared to have a meaningful conversation. By digitally capturing formal and informal knowledge within the organization and making it available on-demand and searchable to the spoken word in vSearch, Sales can quickly find the knowledge they need to have a meaningful, tailored conversation with their prospects.

vSearch's fully searchable content helps create a cloud-based learning environment, providing instant access to knowledge anytime and anywhere. For mobile access on a BlackBerry, iPhone or other mobile devices, content is provided in a wide range of downloadable formats. Using vSearch, companies have saved millions of dollars in travel and training costs while increasing sales productivity and revenue.

"Significant changes have been taking place for a number or years within enterprise learning, including the transition from formal to informal learning, the use of searchable video for knowledge sharing and performance support, Web 2.0, and learner empowerment," added Mr. Cocheu. "These awards for excellence in learning technology by Brandon Hall Research not only acknowledge what Altus has achieved, but also confirm that a fundamental and permanent shift has occurred in enterprise learning."

Now in its twelfth year, Brandon Hall's Excellence in Learning program showcases exceptional work in innovative learning.
