Alien Skin Puts Image Doctor in Public Beta

Software repairs images, removes defects By Dave Nagel
Alien Skin will ship a new suite of filters for Adobe Photoshop and compatible hosts this summer. The new set, called Image Doctor, is designed to remove imperfections in images, including blemishes on subjects, as well as defects in image files. A public beta of the software is available now at Alien Skin's Web site.

Image Doctor is designed to remove blemishes, defects, compression artifacts and even unwanted details in an image, such as tourists in te background of a nature shot. In its present state, the ImageDoctor collection includes four filters.

  • Smart Fill, which replaces large objects and defects.
  • Scratch Remover, which mends small defects, removes unwanted background details and repairs scratches, folds, creases, and wrinkles.
  • Spot Lifter, which removes blemishes while preserving the texture and detail of the underlying image.
  • JPEG Repair, which is designed to remove compression artifacts.
