Ala. campus locked down after armed robberyUniversity of South Alabama locks down campus after armed robbery, no one hurt
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) ' A University of South Alabama spokesman says an armed robbery prompted a campus lockdown but that no one was hurt.
University spokesman Keith Ayers said Sunday evening that the campus alert was still in effect but that officials would be releasing more information shortly.
Ayers said police are "working the case right now. It was an armed robbery on campus...No one was hurt."
The Mobile campus posted a crime alert on its website Sunday evening that said "there have been reports of someone on campus armed with a weapon last seen in the housing area."
The alert went on to advise the university community to "remain inside until further notice."
A campus police dispatcher said she wasn't aware of any reports of shots fired.
