Adtec Celebrates 20 Years of Digital Video ExcellenceLeading manufacturer of digital distribution, commercial insertion and video servers (January 14, 2005)
Adtec Digital celebrates 20 years of business in 2005 as one of the worlds leading manufacturers of digital distribution solutions, digital commercial insertion solutions and video servers.
?Adtecs vision embodies a forward-thinking product design, VP of Sales and Marketing, Ron Johnson, said. ?The success of the company is a result of the development, sale and support of products in demand in a number of vertically integrated markets.
In the early 1980s, as Student President of the Residence Hall Association at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tenn., Johnson developed an analog, closed-circuit television system to inform students about campus-related activities.
Two fellow students, Andre Ancelin and David Cook, shared Johnsons interest in the technology. Together they developed an automated-control system television stations could use in scheduling videotaped programs.
After graduation, the three raised $10,000 and founded Adtec Productions, Inc. in Sept. 1985 in Nashville, Tenn., and began to market their automated broadcast equipment. In 1986, Kevin Ancelin joined the company. The four still hold the key leadership positions in the company today and make up its board of directors.
As sales surged and markets expanded in 1991, Adtec relocated their engineering and manufacturing to Jacksonville, Fla.
?During these formative years, we manufactured VCR controllers, switchers and text character generators for closed-circuit applications like hospitals and universities and cable and broadcast television markets, VP of Technology, Andre Ancelin, said. ?Products included the Ad-Maestro, Active 64-16, Lite-Ning, Telecaster and AVS-2. Thousands of these analog Adtec products are still in service worldwide.
In the mid-1990s, it became clear to the leadership of Adtec that digital video, particularly MPEG, would become the industry standard.
?This knowledge yielded a move in the direction of digital video and we havent looked back since, President, Kevin Ancelin, said. ?Adtec continually strives to keep abreast of industry growth and develop products reflecting the most innovative technology.
Adtec is designing the next generation of advanced compression standards-based products including WM9 and MPEG 4 Part 10 (H.264), and is continuing to mature the MPEG 2-based products to deliver more features, while retaining the hard earned Adtec reputation of value and reliability.
Adtecs IP television solutions provide high-quality, free-to-air and pay-to-view content within a corporate-branded, interactive program guide ideal for direct-to-home, university, corporate or hospitality markets.
Throughout their years in business, Adtec has been honored with many awards and accolades, including the Blue Chip Enterprise Initiative Award, Music City Future 50, NAB Award for Innovation in Media and most recently, the National District Export Councils ?Small Business Exporter of the Year finalist award.
?I believe our historical achievements include building much of our business on innovative products, VP of Customer Service, Dave Cook, said. ?We also attribute success to strong integration services that have allowed our markets to fully explore our product capabilities. That path has encouraged strong word-of-mouth sales and helped build market presence.
Adtec is a privately-held corporation with nearly all equity shareholders involved in the daily operations.
?We are debt free and have maintained positive cash flow since inception, Kevin said. ?We are confident in our current position and are excited about creating future solutions delivering economical, reliable and innovative MPEG products.
