Adobe Ships Acrobat 6.0 LineProfessional Edition offers new management, preflighting tools
The new Acrobat 6.0 Professional offers several new features, including the ability to create PDFs from Microsoft Office applications; headers and footers, as well as watermarks; enhanced review management; preservation of layers created in some third-party applications; built-in preflighting; forms creation; commenting tools; enhanced navigation and viewing; and PDF/X compliance.
The Standard and Elements versions of Acrobat 6.0 are stripped-down versions of the Professional edition. They offer a new interface and XML data exchange capabilities, in addition to basic PDF creation.
The new Acrobat Reader 6.0 allows users to view QuickTime and Flash elements; read and organize eBooks; extract photos from a Photoshop Album slideshow; and view documents with layers preserved.
All versions of Acrobat 6.0 are available now for Mac OS X and Windows systems. Acrobat Professional sells for $449. Registered users of version 4.0 or 5.0 can upgrade for $149. The Standard version sells for $299. Upgrades run $99. The Elements edition will be available through OEM licenses. And the Acrobat 6.0 Reader is available for free.
