Adobe Releases Raw, JPEG 2000 PluginsPhotoshop File Browser also gets update
Adobe's Photoshop Camera Raw plugin is designed to support uncompressed images from digital camera manufacturers like Minolta, Fuji, Nikon, Canon and Olympus. The plugin allows Photoshop to open these 16-bit files and make a limited number of adjustments to them, including white balance, temperature, tint, exposure, shadows, contrast, color saturation, sharpness and smoothness. It also allows the files to be previewed in the Photoshop File Browser.
The Photoshop Camera Raw plugin also comes bundled with Adobe's new JPEG 2000 plugin. The bundle supports Photoshop 7.0.1 on Macintosh and Windows and runs $99.
Adobe has also released a free update to the Photoshop File Browser for Mac OS X. According to Adobe, the update fixes a problem on Mac OS X that occurred when previewing a large number of images stored in a single folder.
The File Browser update can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/new.jsp. More information on the new Photoshop Camera Raw and JPEG 2000 plugins can be found at http://www.adobe.com/store/products/plugins/view_by_developer.jhtml?id=catPlugins_A.
