Adobe Releases InCopy 2.0New version offers XML support, dynamic spell checking
InCopy is targeted mainly toward newspapers for editors, designers and copyfitters. The new version includes support for XML, as well as enhanced editing tools, such as dynamic spell check, a built-in thesaurus and table creation. It also offers an improved interface that lets users work on multiple views of a story simultaneously. Users can now create, import, edit and export stories in XML format. Additionally, InCopy and InDesign share the same XML structure.
According to Adobe, third-party developers are also supporting InCopy 2.0, including Digital Technology International (DTI), Managing Editor, net-linx Publishing Solutions, Press Computer Systems, SchlumbergerSema, SoftCare and WoodWing. Specific plugin support includes Smart Connection, TruEdit and the K4 Publishing System, which all provide workflow tools to manage InCopy documents within an InDesign layout.
InCopy offers improved collaboration between editors and page layout designers. It allows users to view a galley and a layout simultaneously, which lets writers see their work in the layout view while editing it in a pure text environment.
InCopy is only available through the Adobe's system integrators, and pricing is determined by the integrators depending on the configuration. For more information, visit http://www.adobe.com.
