Adobe Photoshop Style Layer Effects: Series #12Free Photoshop style layers to produce effects quickly
In series 12 of my Adobe Photoshop Style Layer tutorials, I have created 2 more effects that you can implement into your Style Layers palette to give your designs or text elements a new look quick and easy. The effects are named “Showtime” and “Fireball.” Detailed instructions have been added to help the user install and implement the Style Layers into their next Photoshop project. Have fun and enjoy the effects!
Style effect #1:
In the first example, the phrase “Showtime” was created using the Anna font and the Inner Shadow, Outer Glow, Inner Glow, Bevel and Emboss (Contour only), Satin, Color Overlay and Gradient Overlay. The Inner Glow provides the object with a nice reflective surface that defines the object’s boundaries.
Style effect #2:
In the second example, the phrase "Fireball” is created using the Bearpaw font with the Photoshop style options Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Inner Glow, Bevel and Emboss' Contour, Gradient Overlay, Pattern Overlay and Stroke.
To install the Style Layer effects into Adobe Photoshop (for Windows version although Mac version will be similar in location), you need to do the following steps:
Step #1: After downloading the ZIP file containing the Photoshop .ASL file, extract the .ASL file using a program like WinZip.
Step #2: Now extract the Style Layer file (named style11.asl) into your Adobe Photoshop 7 Styles directory. Your Styles directory should reside in the location shown in Step 2 diagram. If Photoshop is not installed in this location, then you will need to locate the Photoshop on your hard drive and navigate to the Styles subdirectory so you can extract the file.
Step #3: After extracting the Style Layer file into your Photoshop Styles subdirectory, now you will need to load the .ASL file to have the three Style layer effects appear in your Styles palette. First, make sure your Styles palette is displayed by selecting Window>Styles. From your Styles palette, click on the arrow in the upper right (as shown) to display the pull down menu and select Load Styles from the options.
Step #4: Now select the Style Layer file (named style11.asl) from your Styles subdirectory within Photoshop. After selecting the file, press the LOAD button to the right and you should now see the three Style Layer effects appear in your palette. Have fun and enjoy!
