Adobe Photoshop 7 Style Layer Effects: Series #2

More Photoshop Style Layers to produce effects quickly By Don Lee
With such great response to the first series of Style Layer effects, I wanted to get right back into it and create another series for you. These next three style layer effects are a bit more subtle in their design but should provide plenty of design opportunities. Style effect #1 is intended to give that ?Indiana Jones look. The font type is called Adventure and with the effect applied, you instantly get the look of the movie series headline text. The second effect uses the zebra texture element for the inner ?stripes and the aqua blue and white gradient for the watery look. The third effect is for you fire-loving folks out there who want a little ?burn for your designs. Have fun with these effects!

TO INSTALL: Windows users need to unzip the contents into your Program Files>Adobe Photoshop 7.0>Presets>Styles. Macintosh users need to unzip the contents into your Adobe Photoshop 7.0s Styles directory.

Style effect #1:
Indiana Jones style effect

Using the Adventure font type for the ?Indiana Jones look, when you apply the Style Layer you should have a design similar to the example above. This works very well if youre looking at reproducing the ?Indiana Jones movie type style as quickly and easily as possible. So for all you ?Indiana Jones adventure fans (as you get geared up for the recently announced 4th installment in the movie series), heres your chance to recreate the look from your favorite action hero.

Style effect #2:
Greetings from Asbury Park

Using the same Adventure font type, this style is best utilized if youre going to be using large text for your document. With small text, the styles bevel may make your text too bulky so you may want to change the bevel from Inner Bevel to Pillow Emboss.

Style effect #3:
Up in Flames!

Using the Miserable font type, this style layer is to give a fire-like look to your objects and text. This look was created using a combination of Drop Shadow, Outer Glow, Inner Glow, Bevel and Emboss (Texture), Gradient Overlay and Stroke. The texture that was applied may be too strong for certain text and layout designs, you can lower the Structure>Depth (from Bevel and Emboss>Texture setting) setting from the 100% its currently set at to something lower for a more subtle, smoother surface.
