What is a PDF Portfolio Navigator?
Adobe Acrobat 9 ships with a set of PDF Portfolio layouts and Navigators that allow you to combine and organize content from a variety of sources into a single PDF file that you can easily share with others.
A PDF Portfolio Navigator contains a SWF application that can be used to navigate the contents of a PDF Portfolio (e.g. a carousel effect). Highly branded custom PDF Portfolios Navigators and layouts can be created using Flex together with the Acrobat ActionScript API.
The SWF application can do just about anything you can program in ActionScript 3 and can play in version 9 of the Flash Player. The .NAV file -- a container format that holds the SWF -- can also reference other files, video clips, images and sound files to provide a rich multi-media experience. The ActionScript application interacts with PDF Portfolios through the Acrobat ActionScript API (AcrobatAPI.swc).
What's in it for you?
Besides some great prizes for the top three entrants, the top ten Flex developers get the chance to show off their create and technical work to the people who are looking for great and creative Flex developers. Adobe will also feature the top ten entries on the Adobe.com website.
