Adobe Offers InDesign Crossgrade for PageMaker Users

Crossgrade available for $299 By Dave Nagel
Adobe has launched a new promotion for InDesign 2.0, the company's now-flagship publishing and page layout suite. The promotion gives users of Adobe PageMaker the ability to upgrade to InDesign 2.0 for $299.

I had the chance to speak with Adobe about the new promotion, and the company said that, no, this offer does not signal the end of development for PageMaker. According to an Adobe spokeswoman, it's an attempt to get users of PageMaker to experience the "more sophisticated" features of InDesign 2.0, particularly users who want to migrate to Mac OS X. InDesign also includes support for transparency, OpenType and a variety of other typographical and graphics features not found in other page layout packages for professional print work.

Adobe hasn't said when the new promotion will end. It begins today. As of press time, the only way to find the offer was to go directly to the InDesign/PageMaker upgrade page. For more information, visit
