Acting with a MobileIndependent digital media producer, 2b Acting, introduces a novel way of using mobile Apps to support Actors. (April 12, 2011)
The Apple iPhone has proved phenomenal in introducing apps to the world. Apps are now used for entertainment, games, education, information and more, to the point where the humble mobile phone can no longer be considered as just a communication device.
The Apple iPhone, in particular, has provided app developers with a range of useful functions, such as movement detectors, voice recording, movie and audio players, map navigation aids and more. 2b Acting has made use of these functions to develop a special 2b Acting app, aimed at Actors.
The 2b Acting app is designed for the working actor as well as the student and those just starting out in their career and provides Actors with a series of tailored functions to assist them in areas such as: - voice and movement exercises, rehearsal techniques, performing tips, out of work advice, audition information and useful guides on training and finding work.
“We see the app becoming an essential and indispensable tool or anyone that wants to act”, says David Jones, 2b Acting’s apps development manager.
The 2b Acting app was released in March 2011 on the Apple iTunes App store and comes preloaded with the exercise information app and dictation 1 exercise module – which can be considered as the actors equivalent of the music scales for warming up an actors voice. More apps will be developed and made available via the 2b Acting app later in the year.
