Accom Ships APR?ClipStoreLow-cost uncompressed SD recording solution (August 05, 2004)
Accom the industry leader in digital disk recording technology for over 16 years, today announced it has begun shipping its low-cost uncompressed SD recording solution APR?ClipStore to Univision, Discovery Latin America and NGC Japan. Designed for on-air playback of Video+Key+Audio and demanding graphics applications, ClipStore is the perfect recording device for video, film & graphics production and post, animation, gameware development, online editing, station branding, scientific visualization, and video compression.
At just under $10,000 U.S. MSRP, ClipStore comes standard with over one hour of uncompressed video, key and audio recording capacity within a compact 3RU chassis. The rich feature set includes versatile interfacing with a network of graphics rendering computers, NetPanel browser-based user interface, and Windows Media 9 export encoding.
ClipStore acts as the bridge between computers and professional video tape recorders, with the added benefit of recording and playing an associated key signal. ClipStore provides an automated solution to stream digitized video, key and audio (VKA) into computer systems ? or can be used to capture these elements when rendered from computer graphics applications. ClipStore is also an ideal low-cost solution for real-time playback of uncompressed video, key and audio clips in live broadcast and production environments.
ClipStores built-in import/export capability allows easy interfacing with a network of graphics rendering computers without concern for proprietary file formats ? eliminating the need for complex transfer scripting. The Import utility can monitor up to five user-defined directories on the local gigabit Ethernet network for the arrival of single-frame image files. As soon as an image file arrives, the Import utility automatically creates a movie in ClipStore, and inserts the frame into the movie. Subsequent frames arriving in the same directory are then inserted into the same movie. On the export side of the equation, while the ClipStore is recording a real-time movie, the Export utility can transfer individual frames from that movie (or any movie already stored) to any computer on the network. For both Import and Export, all popular image file formats are supported, such as SGI, TGA, TIF and PSD ? just to name a few.
Because ClipStore was specifically designed for today's highly networked environments, it is able to handle installations that have a mix of Windows, Irix and Mac OS X operating systems. This workflow is critical when creating graphics and effects for broadcast television, the Internet and electronic film.
