Accom Launches AirCleaner Delay SystemNew digital video and audio delay system for live-to-air broadcasts (May 18, 2005)
Accom a leader in broadcast and professional video products, recently announced at the National Association of Broadcasters convention, AirCleaner, an innovative new digital video and audio delay system for live-to-air broadcasts in both High Definition and Standard Definition. Featuring a built-in defocus engine and an array of operating modes including dual-operator screening for extra security, AirCleaner is a versatile and economical solution for dealing with inappropriate content during live broadcasts.
AirCleaners unique architecture allows it to be operated as a traditional delay box, or in powerful new ways. It can be configured as dual delay lines connected in series and controlled by two operators for ultimate security. In this mode, the second operator receives the video with an additional delay, and can intervene if the first operator misses an incident.
Operators can pre-program a variety of responses to be triggered when intervention is required. Five distinct operational modes provide the ability to defocus video, or switch to an external video source or internally-generated black. For audio editing, AirCleaner provides adjustable audio tones, switch to an auxiliary input or mute the sound. In all operating modes, video and audio can be controlled independently, with adjustable delay to correct for video/audio sync errors.
AirCleaners AutoClean function automatically allows for the time an operator takes to react to an incident by adding a buffer from the moment the operator presses the button, ensuring that the beginning of an incident is masked, without increasing the overall delay.
Housed in a 1RU chassis with a front panel LCD screen for easy operation and setup, AirCleaner accepts HD video (1080:60i, 59.94i, 50i or 1080:30psf, 29.97psf, 25psf, 24psf, 23.98psf or 720:60p, 59.94p), SD video (525/59.94i and 625/50i) and up to eight channels of AES/EBU audio with 24bit resolution at 48kHz. AirCleaner also handles embedded audio and provides a stereo analog output for audio monitoring.
Integrity during broadcasting is ensured by a bypass relay circuit that can be operated manually or automatically in the case of a power supply failure. Redundant power supplies are available as an option.
Based on solid-state design, AirCleaner comes in two models. The first one provides up to 11 seconds of delay in HD and up to 60 seconds of delay in SD. The second model provides up to 5 seconds of HD delay, and up to 30 seconds of SD delay, and is targeted for those facilities still working in standard definition with future plans for high definition.
