Academy of Art College San Francisco Integrates REALVIZ Tools

(July 25, 2001)
The Academy of Art College San Francisco has integrated several REALVIZ tools into its digital media program. The College has outfitted one of its media labs with several copies of REALVIZ' Image Processing Factory applications, and will be developing courses built around these programs.

The college is the largest private school of art and design in the country and offers its students a chance to earn a BFA, AA, MFA and Certificate Programs in ten different majors.

Beginning in the summer 2001 term, the academy will provide its students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with REALVIZ' ImageModeler, MatchMover, Stitcher and ReTimer through an extensive 10-week course based on these applications. The seminar is titled "Imaged Based Content Creation."

ImageModeler allows 2D and 3D artists to create photo-real 3D models using simple photographs, without additional hardware or camera equipment. MatchMover is a camera tracking application that enables animation and special effects professionals to create seamless image sequences integrating live-action footage with computer-generated 2D and 3D elements. Stitcher enables users to create panoramic images up to 360 x 360 degrees to build virtual sets. ReTimer enables users to change the motion speed or length of image sequences in post-production.

REALVIZ also donated several copies of ImageModeler and Stitcher to winners of the Academy's Annual Spring Show. This long-term alliance will enable students to learn and have access to cutting-edge technology tools.

"Our relationship with the Academy of Art College is the first of many with the educational sector," said Yves Michel, VP Sales and Support at REALVIZ USA. "We have received an overwhelming response from students for our products and are excited to integrate our software into the curriculum at top art schools such as the Academy of Art College."

"The Academy salutes the visionary leadership of REALVIZ for recognizing the importance of education and training in producing REALVIZ artists," said Frank Angello of the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. "We are actively engaged with REALVIZ in education our staff and advanced students in the hands-on use if their tools, as well as conducting workshops for industry professionals. Inspired by, and in direct cooperation with REALVIZ, an innovative Image-Based Content Creation course is being prototyped for immediate incorporation into our curriculum."
