Abvio's Cyclemeter, Runmeter and Walkmeter Are First to Support iPhone + iPad + iCloud

  (January 24, 2013)

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 24, 2013

Abvio Inc. today released version 9.0 of the most advanced GPS fitness apps on the App Store, Cyclemeter, Runmeter, and Walkmeter, which are the very first to support iPhone, iPad, and iCloud. Among the other many new features in version 9.0 are rich support for Facebook, a new way to view and share workout data, and for cyclists, advanced power meter support.

Abvio also revealed today that it has surpassed one million paid customers, making the apps among the most successful on the App Store, and in the highly competitive Health & Fitness app category. Apple recently announced that it has seen more than 40 billion app downloads from approximately 500 million customer accounts. Half of the app downloads occurred in 2012 alone.

According to Abvio's CEO Steve Kusmer, unlike Abvios competitors, who often report millions of downloads of free applications, more than 95 percent of which are quickly abandoned, downloads of Cyclemeter, Runmeter and Walkmeter represent actual paying customers.

Were extremely grateful to our customers, who give us feedback and motivation to innovate, said Kusmer. In version 9.0, we focused on providing athletes with more flexibility in creating, viewing and analyzing workouts. With the addition of iPad and iCloud support and Online Workouts, we accomplished just that.

First to Support iPhone + iPad + iCloud
Abvios GPS fitness apps are the first to support iPhone and iPad, using iCloud for data sharing. Athletes can record a workout on their iPhone and then view their data with large screen resolution on their iPad or iPad Mini. In addition, athletes can make changes on their iPad, such as setting up routes, interval training or training plans, and then readily use this information for their next workout on their iPhones.

iPad and iCloud support is available for free for existing customers by downloading the application from the App Store on their iPhones and iPads. As a universal application, customers only need to purchase one app for both iPhone and iPad.

Online Workouts
For the very first time, Abvios apps offer enhanced online capabilities. With no log in required, workouts can now be viewed and shared online using email, Facebook, Twitter, and dailymile. Online workouts include map, graphs, splits, intervals/laps, zones, and summary data. Maps and graphs can be zoomed to see more detail. Online workouts are updated every few minutes while recording an activity, providing data for coaches, peace of mind for friends and family, and an online record for athletes.

Rich Support of Facebook Open Graph
In version 9.0, friends of athletes can see their map and summary stats in the Facebook news feed, Timeline, and Ticker. The map and stats are updated every few minutes during the workout. This builds upon the apps unique and innovative capability to speak comments and Likes from friends using text-to-speech technology, which provides encouragement and motivation from the athletes personal social circle.

Elite Cycling Support
Power meters are crucial tools for cyclists to guide and optimize their training, and 9.0 includes the most advanced power meter support available in any application. Power readings can be viewed on stopwatch pages as statistics, in graphs, and heard through voiced announcements. Target thresholds can be set to announce alerts. The new Online Workouts feature also displays this information, allowing coaches to see real-time information about the progress of their athletes.

About Cyclemeter, Runmeter, and Walkmeter
With nine major releases, and more than three dozen updates over the past three years, Cyclemeter, Runmeter, and Walkmeter continue to be the most powerful GPS fitness applications for the iPhone and now iPad. All three, in addition to the 5K Runmeter training application, are built from the same foundation, and come preconfigured for running, cycling, walking, and training respectively. Each app supports all features and activities. All are available on the Apple iTunes App Store (iTunes link) for $4.99 (US). One voice, for hearing replies from Facebook, Twitter, and dailymile.com, is included free. Subsequent voices are $0.99 (US) each via In App Purchase.
