Aviom, Inc., manufacturer of the Personal Monitor Mixing System, announced that the AVIOM 16/o-Y1 A-Net Output Card is now shipping for market distribution and will be featured at AES 2004.

Aviom developed the AVIOM16/o-Y1 output card for the Yamaha consoles, which allows audio in the form of the companys proprietary A-Net protocol to be distributed via Cat-5 cable directly from the console to Aviom Personal Mixers. No analog input device is required.

?This is a major technological breakthrough for users of the Yamaha digital consoles as well as for Aviom users, says Carl Bader, President and CEO of Aviom. ?The simplified direct connectivity makes this a compelling package for both live and studio use. We are very excited to have major equipment manufacturers so eager to adopt our A-Net technology. Recently, the AVIOM 16/o-Y1 card and Yamahas digital DM1000 and DM2000 consoles worked flawlessly together during the Neil Diamond performance at the Democratic National Committee benefit held at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

The AVIOM16/o-Y1 output card is a mini-YGDAI format card that fits into an expansion slot in the rear of Yamahas digital consoles, including the 01V96, DM1000, 02R96, DM2000 and PM1D. It allows a front-of-house engineer to assign and send sixteen mono channels or up to eight stereo channels of audio in the digital domain to each performer on stage (or in the studio) directly from the Yamaha consoles control surface. The AVIOM16/o-Y1 output card is compatible with Avioms new A-16II Personal Mixers, as well as with the companys A-16D and A-16D Pro A-Net Distribution products.

?The ability for a musician to control his own monitors by the AVIOM card housed in the mixing console envioronment is a major step forward in digital, states Larry Italia, general manager, Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems Division. ?The AVIOM16/o-Y1 output card will reach a much broader user base for both companies as we continue to provide breakthrough products and services."
