ATTIK Adds Los Angeles and San Francisco Account DirectorsGlobal creative agency seeking more talent at all levels (January 12, 2006)
Global creative agency ATTIK today announced several important new hires which will affect its business operations in its Los Angeles and San Francisco studios. The companys global CEO Ric Peralta said that the appointments are effective immediately, and that ATTIK is seeking to hire more new talent at all levels for each of its locations.
Beginning in Los Angeles, the company adds account management veteran Charlie Adams as its account director for Scion. Meanwhile, ATTIK's San Francisco-based new business manager Rachel Newell will add the account director role to her responsibilities, and she will be joined in that role in San Francisco by newly hired account director William Wayland.
Regarding his new account director in LA, Peralta said, ?Charlie's auto industry experience was a huge draw, as was his life experience outside of advertising. Since first meeting him, it was very clear that he could add a valuable perspective to our team. Charlie worked on launching many of the Infiniti models while at TBWAChiatDay, and we coveted that experience for our Scion clients and our account work going forward.
Adams joins ATTIK after a four-year tenure as TBWAChiatDays management supervisor on their account for Nissan North America. There, he managed the Infiniti National Account Team and re-launched the Infiniti brand with a new positioning, tagline and seven new models. As the key author of marketing plans for each year from 2002 to 2005, Adams led his team's strategic development and positioning, and managed the account's $220 million budget. His many extraordinary achievements in this role contributed to ten straight months of record sales (which continue to the present), and the companys dealer body achieving its highest profits in franchise history. His previous five years were divided into account supervisor roles with Deutsch LA (for the Mitsubishi Motors account) and Suissa Miller (for the Andrew Jergens company). Prior to that, he spent four years handling increasingly responsible account duties for Grey Advertising in Los Angeles, ultimately earning the role of director of the agencys acclaimed account management development program. He is a graduate of Kenyon College and a former Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps.
"As a traditional agency guy, the changing landscape of our industry put ATTIK in the bulls-eye of what I was looking for in my next move, Adams observed. ?The sun has set on the days of the rote media plan. ATTIK has a firm grasp of how the automotive advertising industry has evolved, and is uniquely equipped to deliver cutting-edge work that resonates with today's consumers. I still have great passion for this industry. The opportunity to manage Toyotas Scion brand and work with great clients who constantly ask us to push the work to new levels was the clincher."
Peralta also commented on the changes in San Francisco. ?Rachels extensive background includes solid experience in both producing as well as consulting, he began. ?As weve learned, her approach is direct and insightful. The combination of her expertise and her ease with clients lends itself well to extending her account duties, particularly on brand programs which are high-tech focused and involve a full array of deliverables, from web presence to print, collateral systems, events and viral campaigns.
A graduate of Britains Bournemouth University, Newells unique blend of talents in broadcast production, graphic design and strategic business development have been instrumental in her role as ATTIKs new business manager. The previous business development manager for San Francisco-based McDougall Creative, she has also developed new business for design boutique Curium Design and for Tam Communications, and led the e-commerce initiatives for travel and event management company Oursources as VP of sales and marketing. Prior to relocating to the US in 1998, she founded the interactive design division of Real Media Communications. In her extended duties as account director, she will help to manage all aspects of project developments for major accounts in the San Francisco office.
?I'm excited about my new transition, Newell confirmed. ?Account direction is a natural extension of the new business process and allows me to deepen the client relationship on a daily basis. While in the UK, I spent over five years in client relations and I welcome the opportunity to continue this line of work at ATTIK. While I'll continue to pursue new business opportunities, my new role provides ongoing involvement on new account 'wins' throughout the production process. I'm particularly keen to play a directing role in account strategy and creative execution, maintaining ATTIK's reputation as a leader in brand marketing.
Regarding the addition of account director William Wayland, Peralta shared these thoughts: ?William has experience at big agencies as well as small creative shops. Generally, we move quickly, we all do many things, and few of them fit on an org chart. William knew all this about us coming in, and his tremendous insights, poise and composure are proving to be great assets already.
William Waylands account management experience includes posts at San Francisco agencies Publicis & Hal Riney SF, Mad Dogs & Englishmen, and Foote, Cone & Belding. His unique abilities to manage and direct accounts while maximizing brand strategy and the highest standards of execution contributed to FCBs 2002 Effie Award for their Taco Bell work. He is a 1990 graduate of New Yorks Bard College.
?The business of advertising is changing right before our eyes, Wayland pointed out. ?I wanted to come to ATTIK because I was looking for an opportunity to work for a very nimble agency with a very large tool kit. ATTIK is an advertising agency, a design agency, a research company... there's nothing we can't do. As a result, ATTIK offers me a unique opportunity to apply my experience with Taco Bell, Dockers, Coors, Sprint PCS and AT&T Wireless in much more innovative ways.
