ATI Ships Radeon 9000 Pro Mac Edition

Board supports multiple independent displays By Dave Nagel
ATI Technologies has released the Radeon 9000 Pro Mac Edition for retail. The graphics card was previously available in pre-configured Macintosh systems --including the dual 1 GHz and dual 1.25 GHz G4 desktop models--but was not available separately. According to ATI, the card is now on store shelves throughout North America.

The Radeon 9000 Pro Mac Edition features a quad-pipe rendering engine with OpenGL support and programmable pixel and vertex shaders. It includes 64 MB DDR RAM and can support two independent digital flat-panel displays simultaneously, including Apple Cinema HD Displays at resolutions up to 1,920 x 1,200. It includes one ADC connector, one DVI connector and one DVI to VGA adapter. It can drive dual CRT displays, dual flat-panel displays and combinations of the two with appropriate adapters.

The Radeon 9000 Pro Mac Edition is available in an AGP configuration now for $169.99.
