At the 65th Festival de Cannes, May 16 - 27, several films on the competition roster have been created by filmmakers whose post-production companies used ASSIMILATE's SCRATCH(r) DI software in their digital workflows for conform, color grading, and finishing. Short Film Palme d'Or Competition:
Waiting for P.O. Box (2012), short film directed by Bassam Chekhes. A surreal story dealing with bureaucracy and disconnect in Jordan.  Barend Onneweer of post house Raamw3rk did the conform, color grading, titles, and finishing.

Un Certain Regard:
La Playa D.C. (2012), feature film directed by Juan Andres Arango.  A young man flees war on the Pacific Coast and heads for Bogotá. The film blends images of the harshness of the road and the congested metropolis of Colombia's capital city with memories of the coast and sea. Cinecolor Colombia did the conform, color grading, finishing, DCP mastering, and sound final mix.

Elefante Blanco (2012), feature film directed by Pablo Trapero. This is the story of two friends, both Catholic priests, who are working on behalf of the poor and dispossessed in a slum of Buenos Aires overrun by powerful drug cartels and corrupt police. Cinecolor Argentina did the conform, color grading, and DCP mastering.

Film Market Premiere (Marché du Film):
Fairy Tale (2012), super-natural thriller directed by Ascanio Malgarini and Christian Bisceglia. Following a divorce, a mother and daughter move to an austere building of the fascist age, which hides a mysterious closet with dark secrets. Post facility Onemore Pictures did the conform, color grading, finishing, and mastering from RED RAW material.

Semaine de la Critique:
Horizon (2012), short film directed by Paul Negoescu. The film asks the questions, if a fisherman mysteriously disappears in the depth of the Black Sea and there is nobody around to hear him, does he make a sound? Digital Cube did the conform, color grading, finishing, and DCP encoding.

Yeguas y Cotorras (2012), short film directed by Natalia Garagiola. This is a story of feminine intrigue:  Delfina and her two soul mates, who all spend one day together at her family's manor house before her wedding guests arrive.  Cinecolor Argentina did the conform, color grading, and DCP mastering.

Los Salvajes (2012), feature film directed by Alejandro Fadel. Five teenagers violently escape a reformatory school in an Argentinean province. They must pilgrimage a hundred kilometers on foot, across the hills, for the promise of a home to continue their days. A progressive voyage into the wilderness, that soon becomes a mystic fable about courage and grace. Cinecolor Argentina did the conform, color grading, and DCP mastering.

Quinzaine des Realisateurs (The Directors' Fortnight):
La Sirga (2012), feature film directed by William Vega. A young woman flees a massacre in her Colombian village, and attempts to make a new life in the high Andes at a lakeside hostel, La Sirga. Cinecolor Colombia did the conform, color grading, finishing, with scanning of 2K material at Cinecolor Mexico.

Tram (2012), animation short directed by Michaela Pavlatova. The film tells a slightly erotic story about the fantasies of a tram conductor. Cosmo Digital did the conform, color grading, finishing, and final DCP mastering.

NO (2012), feature film directed by Pablo Larrain. Inspired by true events, an advertising executive creates a happy and positive message for a contender's campaign that ousts dictator Augusto Pinochet. Filmosonido Chile did the conform, color grading, finishing, VFX supervision, and DCP mastering.

Infancia Clandestina (2012), feature film directed by Benjamín Ávila. Juan lives a clandestine life. Like his mother, father, and adored uncle, outside the home he has another name. He meets Maria, who only has one name. Based on true facts, set in the Argentina of 1979, this film is one about love. Cinecolor Argentina did the conform, color grading, and DCP mastering.

Special Screenings:
Villegas (2012), feature film directed by Gonzalo Tobal. Two cousins drive together to their grandfather's funeral in Villegas, a small inland town where they grew up together. The trip becomes an emotional journey, punctuated by reunions, the past, and the end of an era. Cinecolor Argentina did the conform, color grading, and DCP mastering.

Stalingrad Lovers (2010), feature film directed by Fleur Albert. The film explores the themes of drugs and social exclusion in the working-class area of Goutte d'Or in Paris. Cosmo Digital did the conform, color grading, VFX, finishing, and DCP mastering.

Pude ver un Puma (2012), short film directed by Eduardo Williams. An accident leads a group of young boys from the high roofs of their neighborhood, passing through its destruction, to the deepest depths of the earth.
