AP: Prof to seek dismissal of US child porn charge

APNewsBreak: Professor whose house burned down will seek dismissal of US child porn charge By The Associated Press

EAGLESWOOD TOWNSHIP, New Jersey (AP) ' A professor arrested after firefighters battling a blaze at his New Jersey home found a 1970s magazine depicting naked prepubescent girls plans to seek to get the charge dismissed through a pretrial intervention program.

His lawyer tells The Associated Press on Friday that Gamal El-Zoghby acknowledges ownership of the magazine found Tuesday by firefighters but says he bought it decades ago and hasn't looked at it since.

Attorney Hal Haveson says the 76-year-old Pratt Institute professor had wanted to get rid of the magazine for years but for some reason never did. It was part of a larger collection of pornography found by firefighters hidden behind wall boards at his home in Eagleswood Township.

The lawyer says El-Zoghby had "discarded the images from his mind, just not from his home."
