AMD Intros 1.1GHz AMD Duron CPU

AMD announced a new desktop processor for the mainstream PC market, the 1.1GHz AMD Duron processor with 3DNow! Professional technology.

The AMD Duron processor enhances the everyday computing experience for home and small- to medium-sized business PC users by delivering practical performance on photo, audio and Internet applications. The 1.1GHz AMD Duron processor, which includes 3DNow! Professional technology and hardware data pre-fetch support for enhanced multimedia experience and improved productivity, also is compatible with the Microsoft Windows XP operating system.


Like all AMD processors, the new 1.1GHz AMD Duron processor supports AMD's stable Socket A platform. Systems based on AMD's new processor are expected to be available in the fourth quarter through a variety of channels worldwide.
