ALTINEX Introduces Display Distribution Amplifier

(July 23, 2001)
ALTINEX, Inc. introduces the Sidekicker, a VGA cable with a built-in 1-in 2-out distribution amplifier designed to allow the connection of a single computer to two displays. The Sidekicker also gives the computer video signal a "kick" allowing you to connect up to 100 feet of cable to each of the two outputs for applications where the displays must be located some distance from the computer.

The Sidekicker is designed for use with computer video cards that comply with the current VESA "Plug and Play" pin-out standard (DDC1 or later) which offers low voltage power on the 15-pin HD output. The low voltage power operates micro-circuitry built into a molded connector on the cable, allowing it to split and buffer the signal. This enables the Sidekicker to be used without any external power adapter, making it the perfect solution for traveling presenters and for A/V presentation installations that have tight space limitations. A special LED on the connector indicates when the Sidekicker is receiving power from the computer, so you know that it is working.

Twelve inches in length, the Sidekicker provides a male 15-pin HD on the side that connects to the computer and two female 15-pin HD connectors on the outputs, making it easy to extend the cable length using standard male to male VGA extension cables. Each end of the Sidekicker makes use of durable molded connectors with user-friendly lock-down screws that can be tightened easily with your fingers.
