AJA Bundles Io with Kona HD

Prices on Kona cards also reduced By Dave Nagel
AJA Video Systems has announced new pricing for its Kona line of video capture and editing boards. The company has also launched a new bundle deal for the Kona HD high-definition card and Io, a standard-definition capture device for Apple's Final Cut Pro. All of the new pricing is effective immediately.

Kona HD is a PCI-based high-definition capture card offering 10-bit uncompressed HD capture and support for applications that run on QuickTime, such as Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects. Kona HD supports most HDTV formats, including 1080i50/59.94/60 and 1080psf23.98/24. At 10-bit color depth, the board requires a 64-bit, 66 MHz PCI slot, such as those found on Apple's Xserve. But it also supports 8-bit HD formats on standard 33 MHz PCI configurations, such as those found in Mac desktop systems. Kona HD also includes six channels of AES I/O at 20- or 24-bit and 48 kHz or 96 kHz. The inputs include hardware sample-rate converters for the connection of non-sync or off-speed digital audio. It also features Genlock for synchronization to an external reference. The new price is $3,995.

Kona SD offers full 10-bit uncompressed video, dual-stream capability, real-time effects and six-channel digital audio support. Other features include SDI input/output, real-time effects, auto-sensing genlock for composite sync or color black, hardware color space conversion, six channels of 24-bit, 48 kHz AES audio I/O, asynchronous audio at 32 kHz to 96 kHz, SDI and BNC inputs and outputs and 128 MB onboard 64-bit memory. The new price is $2,495.

In addition, AJA has launched a bundle deal for Io and the Kona HD board. Io is a capture device for Mac OS X that works through FireWire and provides uncompressed video capture for Apple's Final Cut Pro. The Io/Kona HD bundle runs $4,990.
