ADTX RAIDs Qualified for CineWave Systems

L Series offers Fibre Channel/Serial ATA technologies By Dave Nagel
Pinnacle Systems has qualified ADTX L Series RAID systems for use with its CineWave non-linear editing systems. L Series RAIDs combine a 2 gigabit Fibre Channel interface with Serial ATA technologies and offer storage capacities up to 3.75 TB. They're available now.

The L Series RAIDs are designed for higher-end video work and are available in two versions, one with a single RAID controller and one with a dual active/active controller. Both configurations combine a 2 gigabit Fibre CHannel interface with Serial ATA technologies, which the company says helps to keep costs down and also provides other advantages over standard ATA/IDE technologies, including 1.5 gigabit per second transfer speeds from drives, individual PTP connections for each drive and longer cable lengths. The 3U rackmount system also offers up to 15 arrays; up to 64 logical units; support for RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 5; hot-pluggable components; background error recovery; status monitoring; capacities up to 3.75 TB; and 512 MB protected memory per controller.

Pinnacle's CineWave is a hardware-based NLE for the Macintosh designed for Apple's Final Cut Pro. Back in September, the company launched CineWave 4.0.1, bringing full support for Apple G5 systems and additional real-time effects, support for RT Extreme and various other enhancements.

ADTX L Series RAIDs support Mac OS X, Windows, Solaris, Linux, AIX and HP-UX. For more information, visit http://www.adtx.com/us.
