ADS Tech Debuts Dual Link DevicesDrive kit, CardBus card, PCI adapter offer USB 2.0 and FireWire connectivity
The Dual Link Drive Kit is designed to allow users to add external FireWire or USB 2.0 drives to their systems. It allows users to add fixed drives or optical DVD or CD burners into a portable, self-contained unit. Users plug their drive into the case, and the drive mounts automatically, according to the company. The drive kit provides two 400 Mbps FireWire ports and one 480 Mbps USB 2.0 port, a pop-out front bezel, a lighted rear power toggle switch, a hard drive activity light and an external power supply. It will be available this month for It ships with SpeedTools Utilities for Macintosh and will be available this month for $99.
The Dual Link PCI card adds three USB 2.0 ports and two FireWire ports for support of up to 127 daisy-chained USB 2.0 devices and up to 63 daisy-chained FireWire devices. It's available now for Macintosh and Windows for $99.
The Dual Link Cardbus is similar to the PCI adapter and is designed for notebook users. It includes two USB 2.0 ports (one powered, one not) and one FireWire port. It's available now for Macintosh and Windows systems for $99.
