A Tour Inside alienbrain

NXN's Asset Management System Specifically for Game Developers By DMN Staff Writer
NXN has a new digital production management (DPM) system developed specifically for game developers. Called alienbrain, it's a client/server solution for digital media management and team collaboration in computer game projects. It combines file management, version control, process automation and project tracking. alienbrain allows artists, level designers, programmers and project managers to work together from a secure central database.

Some companies using it include Sony Online Entertainment, Criterion Studios, Infogrames, Kalisto Entertainment and more.

We at DigitalGameDeveloper.com thought it would be helpful to take an inside look at how alienbrain actually functions. Here we go.... be sure to click on images for larger views.

1) In alienbrain, an artist can view thumbnails of the current version of all files in a project folder and directly select the file in which he is interested.

2) When selecting a file, a full preview is shown along with useful information, such as image size and colour depth. If an artist wants to work on a file, he simply checks it out to his local drive.
