A+E Networks Taps Freewheel to Monetize Mobile Video PlatformsFreeWheel's Monetization Rights Management(R) System to Manage Advertising for Award-Winning TV Programming for Mobile Devices (February 09, 2012)
SAN MATEO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/09/12 -- A+E Networks announced today that it has signed a new agreement with video technology company FreeWheel to deploy its Monetization Rights Management® (MRM) system across all of the network's mobile properties. FreeWheel's infrastructure will enable A+E Networks to capitalize on its exponential audience growth on mobile by managing advertising to monetize its premium television content made available through iOS smartphones and tablets.
"With an install base of more than a quarter of a billion devices, Apple iOS devices gives our television audience a complementary way to watch our programming, and we have seen amazing growth in the number of people who have done just that," said Lee Barstow, Vice President of Digital Ad Operations and Solutions for A+E Networks. "FreeWheel has the unrivaled experience with global television and entertainment companies necessary to scale our advertising and revenue opportunities accordingly as we expand our digital footprint even further."
FreeWheel's MRM technology arms A+E Networks with powerful ad management tools that allows their syndicated content to more closely replicate linear television ad loads. A+E Networks will be able to manage ad sales rights across their mobile Web sites and applications branded with distribution partners, forecast advertising inventory across devices, deliver yield-optimized ads and monitor campaign performance on behalf of its advertisers and partners. A+E Networks will also be able to manage ad loads within specific pods of commercial breaks, optimizing advertisements based on criteria such as highest CPM and frequency.
"A+E Networks' wildly popular programming has been especially effective in building not only its television audience, but its digital audience as well," said Doug Knopper, co-founder and co-CEO of FreeWheel. "As TV Everywhere proliferates, consumers are reaching for the nearest screen to watch their programming they know and love. For advertisers, this presents more environments in which to engage with a captivated audience, and we are happy to help A+E Networks take advantage of that."
FreeWheel gives enterprise-class media companies the infrastructure they need to create scaled, profitable content businesses in the new media landscape. Founded and led by a team of executives from the world's leading technology companies, FreeWheel's solutions have already armed companies like FOX, ESPN, Turner, VEVO, and others with the technology and services they need to manage advertising and operations across a multiplicity of devices.
