@Last Updates SketchUp

SketchUp ArchiCAD plugin also announced By Dave Nagel
@Last Software has released SketchUp 3.1. SketchUp is an application for CAD conceptualization, design, modeling and illustration. The new version is available now for Mac OS X and Windows. @Last has also announced a new plugin for Graphisoft ArchiCAD 8 that's available now as a free beta download.

SketchUp is a complement to existing AEC tools, designed to provide tools for quick conceptualization, creation and modification of 3D elements. According to @Last, version 3.0 includes enhancements to dimensions and annotations; smoothed faces and soft edges; and material transparency. It also offers animation export in AVI and QuickTime formats, as well as VRML. And it adds filled polygon vector output in EPS and PDF formats. The software also supports a number of raster and vector formats, including PDF, PSD, PICT, EPS, TGA, SGI and BMP, as well as DWG, DXF and 3DS formats. The new 3.1 update, unveiled at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco this week, adds thumbnail images to the component browser; 2D vector export (PDF, EPS, DWG and DXF); enhanced Piranesi EPIX format support; improved 3ds export support; and improved shadow features.

@Last has also debuted a beta version of a new plugin for ArchiCAD 8 that allows for the import of native SketchUp geometry into ArchiCAD. Translation can be automatic or user-specified. The beta is available publicly for a limited time. Pricing for the final version has not yet been announced.

SketchUp 3.1 is available now as a free update for users of SketchUp 3 or $95 for users of SketchUp 2.2 or earlier. The full version runs $495. For more information, visit http://www.sketchup.com.
