@Last Software Releases SketchUp Component LibrariesComponents Libraries broaden use and functionality of SketchUp (January 13, 2005)
@Last Software, Inc., a Boulder-based developer of innovative 3-dimensional design software, announces the availability of SketchUp Component Libraries for use in the film and stage, interior design, landscape architecture, and architectural and mechanical design industries.
The libraries contain hundreds of great-looking, commonplace 3-dimensional images that SketchUp users can employ to enhance their designs. For instance, set designers can quickly insert vehicles, lights, cameras & people required for a movie shot, while landscape architects might insert images of trellises or patio furniture in their garden design. Easy access to pre-drawn, components saves users valuable drawing time and adds high quality details to any design concept.
SketchUp's pre-designed components are created for ease of use. Users simply click, drag and drop each component wherever it needs to go in their SketchUp model. And, just like existing SketchUp imagery, every component in these new libraries is fully editable.
"SketchUp users drove our development of the component libraries for the film and stage, interior design, landscape architecture and other markets," states Brad Schell, founder of @Last. "The users have actually pulled us into these new markets and the component libraries enhance our product offering to these new markets as well as to the architectural market."
The SketchUp Component Libraries are available, free of charge, online at www.sketchup.com/downloads/components. @Last Software, developers of SketchUp, will also be handing out CDs containing the libraries at two tradeshows this week: Macworld in San Francisco and at the International Builders' Show in Orlando.
Developed for the conceptual stages of design, SketchUp is powerful yet easy-to-learn 3D software. SketchUp's simple toolset and intuitive nature give the user the look, feel and freedom of drawing on paper. The award-winning software is powerful enough for professional design projects yet easy enough to be used by elementary school students. SketchUp for Windows and Macintosh OS X is available in 7 languages. A free trial download and more information are available at www.sketchup.com.
