4medica Launches Integrated Communications Gateway From MMRGlobal(June 21, 2012)
LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/21/12 -- 4medica and MMRGlobal, Inc. (OTCBB: MMRF) ("MMR") today announced that 4medica will incorporate MMR's patented MMRPro and MyMedicalRecords systems into its Integrated Electronic Health Record (4medica iEHR®) to create Communications Gateway, an EHR platform for secure, HIPAA-compliant inbound/outbound faxing. 4medica provides the industry's leading cloud clinical integration platform and solutions. MMRGlobal is a leading provider of Personal Health Records (PHRs) and electronic document management and imaging systems for healthcare professionals.
The new solution enables 4medica clients, including labs, physician practices and individual practitioners, to receive encrypted faxes directly into their 4medica iEHRs, and to fax directly from the application domestically or internationally, using existing fax numbers or new dedicated "lifeline" numbers for each physician in the practice. The system maintains inbound and outbound fax notifications, and captures an audit trail for all activity, which it updates in a daily report. In addition, Communications Gateway will use MMR's patented document management and imaging solution to facilitate electronic consultations for both inbound and outbound referral letters. 4medica will pay monthly minimum usage and patent licensing fees based on the size of the Gateway plus a 20% royalty on revenues generated from healthcare providers.
"The move to electronic medical records is inevitable, but faxing remains an important form of communication and patient data transfer," said Oleg Bess, M.D., 4medica's CEO. "The challenge is protecting patient privacy while ensuring the complete patient picture. Communications Gateway, which will connect 4medica to any doctor, hospital or healthcare provider along the continuum of care, regardless of the level of the provider's technology or EMR platform, is the solution healthcare providers need -- a secure way to fax patient data that also is an efficient way to populate the EHR with that data."
"This is a significant milestone for MMRGlobal, as 4medica is the nation's leading provider of cloud-based clinical data exchange services that provide physicians with a real-time view of patient information across multiple locations," said Robert H. Lorsch, MMRGlobal CEO. "4medica provides services to more than 35,000 physicians and projects as many as one-third of its base will use the new integrated fax service powered by MMRGlobal. We have been working to incorporate similar features and benefits of MMRPro and the MyMedicalRecords PHR into Electronic Health Record systems, and our integration with 4medica is the first major step in demonstrating the value of adding our patented technologies to any SaaS service or EMR solution."
4medica's iEHR enables hospitals, physicians, labs and health information exchanges (HIEs) to aggregate laboratory, imaging, pathology, e-prescribing and inpatient data from multiple sources into a single patient-centric record. MMR's patented technologies securely transmit, store and share health data. MMR's proprietary software employs a scalable modular architecture that allows for accelerated expansion and customizable applications and makes it simple to create and deploy a wide range of feature-rich telephony applications, services and open source solutions.
4medica provides the industry's leading cloud SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) clinical integration platform, the 4medica Integrated Electronic Health Record (4medica iEHR®), to help healthcare organizations of diverse types create a seamless view of the patient care experience and drive EHR adoption. The intuitive iEHR platform design integrates with and builds upon disparate systems to facilitate interoperable data exchange across various care settings to promote care continuity. The cloud computing model is scalable, lower cost, maintenance-free, easy to use and deployable in a few months or less, eliminating large capital outlays or resource utilization. This is especially critical for small community and rural hospitals and physician heath organizations of all types and sizes striving to qualify for ARRA incentives and to demonstrate Meaningful Use. 4medica connects 100-plus institutional facilities including hospitals, health systems, physicians, laboratories and radiology and pathology clinics, and its products are used by more than 30,000 physicians.
