MARINA, Calif. (AP) ' Authorities in California say four people have died and two others hospitalized after a fire at a Monterey County home care facility for the disabled.
Police watch commander Robin Nowak says the four adults perished in the fire that was reported around 11:45 p.m. Saturday at the home in Marina.
The names of the four people killed in the fire have not been released. Nowak says they were residents of the home.
Nowak says three Marina police officers who responded to the fire suffered smoke inhalation when they tried to rescue people inside the burning structure.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Nowak says investigators with the federal bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were on the scene Sunday.
